On June 4, 2011, Davey Amey on behalf of Enns Brothers got up on stage at the International Snowmobile Congress in Calgary, Alberta to receive recognition for all the company has done for the snowmobile community in Manitoba. Enns Brothers, with four locations in Manitoba that carry power sports products, was awarded the Canadian Snowmobile Dealer of the Year Award by the Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations (CCSO) for their contribution to the sport, their effort to promote solidarity and responsibility within the snowmobile community and for offering exceptional quality of service to snowmobilers.

Enns Brothers carries a complete line of recreational equipment from Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) including: Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo, Can-Am and Evinrude. They also carry MasterCraft boats, Starcraft boats, Smoker Craft boats, Campion boats, and Peugeot and SYM scooters. Enns Brothers carries a huge selection of ATV, snowmobile and marine parts and accessories, as well as other fine products for their avid power sports enthusiasts. They help those in the Winnipeg and nearby areas with all their power sports needs, including parts and accessories sales, repair and maintenance, winterization and summerization, and other services necessary to keep their customer’s outdoor equipment in the very best of shape.

SnoRiders sat down with Enns Brothers’ marketing manager, Rec and Turf Products, Dave Amey, to find out what this award means to the company and why it was so well-deserved.

So how does it feel to be awarded the Canadian Snowmobile Dealer of the Year Award?

It was a real honour to be recognized by the CCSO. We all ride and enjoy the sport. Even though it is a business decision to support the clubs, Snoman Inc. and the trail system, we do what we do because we are so passionate. We do it to keep our business moving forward but we again do it, first and foremost, because we are riders. Receiving acknowledgment through this award is a real feel-good moment, a moment that is shared among all of our four locations: Winnipeg East, Winnipeg West, Portage la Prairie and Steinbach.

Why does Enns Brothers deserve this award?

I believe it is our involvement in the snowmobile community. We are a big supporter of local clubs as well as the provincial association, Snoman Inc. I think it’s also because of the length of time we have been in the business, which is close to 40 years. In that time we have tried to contribute in any way we can, not only by having four really great stores but by giving back as much we can. We volunteer a lot of time through our staff members at local snowmobile clubs and we volunteer to clear trails. We also volunteer our management time. We are members of the Mid-Canada Marine Dealers Association, which is a not-for-profit industry group. Volunteering is something we believe very strongly in.

What does Enns Brothers provide that other companies don’t?

We provide multiple locations throughout southern Manitoba to provide sales and service to your Ski-Doo snowmobile, no matter where you are riding.

How does Enns Brothers contribute to the snowmobiling community?

First of all, we contribute through club support. We are very involved with Snoman Inc. and the company Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), which makes the Ski-Doo snowmobile. Snoman Inc. has a national program to raise money for local clubs and we are a strong supporter of that. They give local clubs the opportunity to make money. We also contribute to many of their fundraisers like the summer barbeque and winter dances and socials. We like to contribute as much as we can. Enns Brothers also does demo events for the public. We try to bring the store to people who have never snowmobiled before and give the public the opportunity to try out the Ski-Doo snowmobile. We do two or three of those a year with the hope of people getting hooked on the sport. It is also free for people who attend. We participate in the Beaver Days Winter Festival in Falcon Lake, Manitoba every year where we bring out the snowmobiles and let everyone give them a try. It’s a lot of fun. Last but not least, we are enthusiasts and love riding and clearing trails.

How do you think the snowmobile industry in Manitoba has changed in the last five years?

Through the tough economic times it has been a challenge for all of us in the industry. "Back to basics" was our key to not only survive but to grow. “Look after the customer!”

What are some new products we can get excited for in the coming year?

The continuation of four-stroke technology but at the same time clean burning, high performing two-stroke engines. Check out our website to see our full line of products. Also check out www.ski-doo.com for the latest Ski-Doo products by BRP. Everything they make, we sell. We are one of the few full line dealers in Canada.
