Situated in the Interlakes District in the Cariboo region of B.C., Bridge Lake is a beautiful area consisting of rolling hills and lush forest. With 125 lakes in the vicinity, it is no wonder Bridge Lake is known for great fishing. However, it is equally rewarding as a sledding destination.

According to Jeff Sopel, an avid snowmobiler, Bridge Lake is suitable for riders of all ages.

"It is the perfect place for learning how to sled," said Sopel, "with easy to big mountain riding."

There are plenty of trails and lakes for families and beginners right at Bridge Lake. And snowmobilers here rarely have to use their trailers since the trails are easy to access.

"Many of us have been so spoiled by the ability to just leave from your front door and hop on a trail," said Sopel.

Bridge Lake is also great for experienced riders who want to indulge their appetite for adventure.

The Bridge Lake Bushwackers, Interlakes Snowmobile Club and the clubs at nearby Green Lake, Clinton and 100 Mile House look after a huge network of trails in the region. They all have members who work very hard to maintain the trails and promote their sport.

What has been created in Bridge Lake is an atmosphere of winter wonder; it is something that Sopel, who now lives in Kamloops, misses.

"I have been sledding since I was young and there are few places that make me stop my sled and look around to see wildlife abound and friends just having fun," he said. "Watching sunsets over lakes and trails after a day's ride is something I will never forget."
