Tucked in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Chetwynd remains one of Northern British Columbia’s most intriguing snowmobiling destinations.
With great trails, unparalleled scenery and an abundance of virgin territory, it’s no wonder this town draws in
sledders from all over.
To each their own
Boasting plenty of untouched terrain and a season that often extends beyond April, Chetwynd is a perfect getaway for riders of all skill levels.
Pine Pass Trail and Silver Sands Trail are popular spots for beginners or
sledders who aren’t out for a challenging trek. Silver Sands is recognized as an area abundant in undisturbed snow.
For the more experienced rider, Mount Solitude, Mount Hulcross and Mount
Le Hudette offer steep trails. For an even more extreme trip, Mount Bickford sees an elevation that reaches above the 5,000-foot mark.
There is something for everyone here, even if you’re just in the market to enjoy
some snowmobiling and take in the beauty of the mountainous setting. Hasler Mountain and Beaver Creek are perfect for anybody. Hasler provides not only plenty of flat terrain and marked trails, but also opportunities for challenging sledding. Hasler is a popular hot
spot among residents and can be accessed from Hasler Forest Service Road located off Highway 97. Beaver Creek is better known as a smooth and easy ride through wooded areas.
Ideal for snowmobiling
Plenty of fresh powder covers the trails each year, and the variety of alpine terrain beckons to all types of riders.
Exploring along the seam of the Rocky Mountains, sledders find adventure in
the diverse landscape of the region. Meadows, ravines, valleys, slopes and steep hills make for incredible riding.
The quaint community is welcoming to tourists and snowmobilers, offering relaxing accommodations and services to return to after sledding. Whether you’re in the mood to soak in a hot tub, have a drink at the local pub or just hit the hay, it’s all there.

“It’s really good riding, there’s always tons of fresh snow. There’s lots of area out here that people from out of town have never been to. It has a great mix of hills, good for all riders.” — Ken Landon, avid snowmobiler
