Mild winter temperatures and a season that extends into April are just some of the reasons Kamloops is a favourite snowmobiling destination. Only 30 minutes from the city lies a world of diverse terrain waiting to be discovered.
Highs and lows
Around Kamloops sledders head to three popular areas: Green Mountain, Tod Mountain and Adams Plateau. These locations provide everything from groomed trails to extreme mountain riding, making Kamloops a perfect place for snowmobilers of all levels of experience.
Just an hour’s drive north of Kamloops is Green Mountain, where elevations reach 2,100 metres. The area is suitable for riders of any skill level, offering trails for novice and intermediate sledders as well as challenging hills and ravines for experts.

Groomed trails and plenty of undisturbed powder await snowmobilers at Tod Mountain, which is also the home of the sledder-friendly Sun Peaks Resort. Here, riders can enjoy the gentler areas or sled above the treeline where elevations go up to 7,000 feet.
Sun Peaks Resort is very welcoming to sledders, providing relaxing accommodations and restaurants. Sun Peaks Adventure Tours also offers snowmobile rentals and guided tours.
For a smoother, more scenic excursion, visit Adams Plateau. The panoramic views and meadow riding of this area are found an hour from the city, near Shuswap Lake. The snow in this region hits depths of three metres, and the season is usually a long one.
A mere 30 minutes from Kamloops, Rossmore Lake also boasts a long snowmobiling season and scenic forested roads.
