MACKENZIE, B.C.
A place of powerful powder
Snowmobilers will look tiny compared to the world's largest tree-crusher

The fun and friendly town of Mackenzie is situated just two hours north of Prince George in the Rocky Mountain trench. The stunning slopes of the surrounding mountains offer riders challenging climbs, while the straight stretches on the valley floor are an excellent place for beginners to test their skills. Mackenzie is a memorable place for any rider—even without its additional claim to fame of being home to the world's largest tree-crusher.

Part of our heritage
In the mid 1960s, a massive tree-crushing machine was brought north to Mackenzie to facilitate logging in the region. The enormous machine—no longer in active use—now sits at the town limits acting as both a gatekeeper for the quirky community and as a tourist attraction for those with an inclination for oversize objects. Only those who have seen it with their own eyes can truly understand its gigantic proportions.

Massive machines aside, snowmobilers will find plenty of other visually stunning sites to gaze at while they travel across the deep powder that Mackenzie is famous for. The wide valley and unpopulated peaks mean it is not unusual for riders to encounter virgin snow and untouched landscape without ever running into another rider.

Trail mix
The area around Mackenzie has  a number of established trails that follow the dips and curves of the northern landscape, which include the exciting ups and downs of alpine bowl riding. Morfee Mountain is a tried and true favourite with riders as its varied terrain provides fun riders for beginners and tough climbs for seasoned sledders. The Rocky Mountain Rider Snowmobile Club open the two cabins they maintain to anyone looking for a place to rest up during their ride.

Powder King Mountain Resort is a popular spot for day-trips in the Mackenzie area. The deep, soft, powder perfectly complements the steep slopes and rigourous twists and turns on the various trails and loops available to local and visiting riders.
