SNOWMOBILING IN THE FLATHEAD VALLEY
On the Flathead
Surround yourself in beautiful mountain scenery

FLATHEAD VALLEY: When it comes to snowmobiling in Montana’s Flathead Valley, there are over 300 groomed trails to choose from along with awesome opportunities for hillclimbing.

Known to be Montana’s recreation wonderland, the Flathead Valley boasts some of the best snowmobiling in the northwestern United States. With its 220 miles (354 kilometres) of groomed trails, your possibilities here are endless.

In addition to these groomed trails, you also have 2,000 miles of USDA forest roads to choose from that are packed with plenty of powder. These roads also provide opportunities for great hillclimbing and exciting scenery.

One trail no sledder should miss is Canyon Creek to Big Mountain, which begins north of Columbia Falls and crosses Werner Park to connect with the Olney Creek and Taylor Creek trails.

Continuing north, the Graves Creek/ Mount Marston trail system goes over the Whitefish Mountain Range, which offers some amazing scenery. This trail system leads to upper Whitefish and Red Meadow lakes. Between Hungry Horse and the Great Bear Wilderness is the Desert Mountain area and south of Bigfork, between Flathead Lake and Swan Lake, are the Crane Mountain and Allard areas.

When snowmobiling in the Flathead Valley, you are never too far away from accommodations and services. With major urban centres like Whitefish, Kalispell, Bigfork and Columbia Falls, chances are you can always find a snowmobile sales, service and rentals dealer.

Guided tours can be arranged through the Flathead Snowmobile Association.
