Riding through the prairies
Kelvington is a legendary place for snowmobilers in central Canada

Kelvington is the stuff of Canadian legends—a small town in Saskatchewan that produced not one, but three NHL hockey players, now reborn as a snowmobiling paradise for riders with an affinity for sledding on smooth, groomed trail networks that stretch as far as the eye can see.

Lakes, parks and hunting
For sledders in Saskatchewan seeking a change of scenery, Kelvington is the perfect spot. Situated near the shores of Round Lake, the snowmobiling around the town consists mainly of immaculately groomed trails overlooking the picturesque body of water.

Kelvington is also close to Fishing Lake Regional Park, which is a boon for sledders who refuse to leave home without their rod and enough coffee to keep them warm while they hunker down on the ice and try their luck at catching a fine winter fish for dinner. For people who use their machines as transportation while hunting, the cabins and shelters that dot the trail are great places to warm frigid hands and feet.

The extensive web of interconnected trails means snowmobilers in Kelvington can travel over 300 kilometres of groomed trail and get to other popular sledding destinations in East Central Saskatchewan, like Preeceville, Hudson Bay and Nipawin. Other trails lead to Greenwater Lake Provincial park, which is home to 100 kilometres of groomed trails that in turn connect to the Trans-Canadian Trail.

Greenwater Lake Provincial Park
Winter camping is available for the brave of heart at Greenwater Lake, but for those unwilling to spend the night away from their toasty bed, day trips are the next best option. Whether snowmobilers spend their day fishing for walleye or perch in the park’s namesake lake or park their sleds and cross-country ski around the lake, the park is a popular place all season long.
