SNOWMOBILING IN Whelan Bay
Take off from Whelan Bay

The Whiteswan Snow Hawks
The Whiteswan Snow Hawks are working with SnoRiders West magazine to increase awareness of snowmobiling opportunities in the Whelan Bay area.

The Whiteswan Snow Hawks Snowmobile Club was formed in 1991 to promote snowmobile safety and family fun. The club has been a member of the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association in good standing since the club was formed.

Whelan Bay is located 120 kilometres north east of Prince Albert, SK, or half an hour north of Candle Lake on Highway #913.

The Whiteswan Lakes (Whelan Bay) are situated in the boreal forest amongst the beauty of the evergreens with poplar and birch mixed at different locations throughout the area. Whelan Bay is spring fed so there are no rivers running into it.

Whelan Bay does connect to the second, third and fourth lakes through narrows and small ungroomed trails. With the fourth lake being the largest there is a lot of excellent riding on the many miles of shoreline in soft powder snow.

There are numerous marked ungroomed trails and old unused logging trails that take you through beautiful meadows, swamps and smaller lakes. On occasion, one might get a glimpse of moose, elk, deer, wolf or coyote.

After several years of hard work we are now responsible for and maintain 140 kilometres of some of the best groomed snowmobile trails in Saskatchewan. Our trails connect to many of the other groomed trails in the area. With Candle Lake to the south of us, Lower Fishing Lake to the east and Little Bear to the north, we have two warm-up shelters—one on 232A going to Candle Lake and the other on 232M going to Little Bear. Both shelters have inside stoves and outdoor wiener roast pits. There is plenty of fire wood at each of the shelters.

Food, gas and lodging are available at “Nature’s Haven Lodge” at Whiteswan Lake. Phone 306-426-2122 or 306-426-2222.

Gas and food and lodging are also available at Candle Lake, Little Bear Lake and Lower Fishing Lake resorts. All are within an hour’s ride from Whiteswan Lake on groomed trails.
