David Thompson Snowrider Grass Drags Watch some of North America's fastest snowmobiles and ATVs compete
The event is put on by the David Thompson Snowriders—a snowmobile club that was formed in 1996 with members from Eckville, Sylvan Lake, Red Deer and area. The club has approximately 50 kilometres of trails, which are supported by funds from the grass drags. They also provide avalanche equipment and training for all members. This will be the 12th year that the Snowriders have held the drags—sanctioned by the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Racing Association (SSRA)—and riders will be pushing their machines to the limit all weekend. Last year, hundreds of spectators were delighted as top racing sleds and quads came from all over Western Canada to give it their all on 500 feet of grass. It's great fun for the whole family. Come out and talk to the racers, check out the machines or compete. It promises to be an outstanding weekend of activity. Race classes include trail stock, trail improved stock, stock mountain, stock, improved, pro stock, open modified, heavy modified, women's, junior novice, novice, vintage, quad and mini sled. Racing starts at 11 a.m. on both days and admission costs $10 for each day or $15 for a two-day pass. Children under 12 are admitted free. See you at the races! |
