Winter is a magical time in Revelstoke but this year, it will be even more special. On March 15, 2008, the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club and Yamaha Canada will be celebrating their 40th anniversaries.

The festivities kick off on Saturday morning at Boulder Mountain. Activities include a barbecue, snowmobile show 'n' shine and guided tours.

According to Kathy Burke, president of the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club, everyone is welcome to take part in the celebration.

"We are inviting snowmobile clubs and snowmobilers from everywhere to join us," she said.

For the evening, the event will move to the community centre in Revelstoke where there will be a catered dinner followed by a meet n' greet. Event-goers will then get a taste of history with a vintage snowmobile display and a picture presentation by local photographer Dusty Veideman about the heavy metal and riding techniques of the past. All of the club's past presidents are expected to be in attendance too.

It will be a busy weekend for the club as the British Columbia Snowmobile Federation is holding its annual spring meeting and elections in Revelstoke the day before.
