The ISC invites all to P.E.I. in June

The 41st annual International Snowmobile Congress (ISC), an event held yearly in June, will take place in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, from June 10 to 13, 2009. Snowmobile clubs and individuals from around the world are invited to attend and be part of this three-day congress to discuss concerns common to the industry, exchange information and meet club representatives.

This congress only comes to Canada every four to five years, with delegates from provincial snowmobile organizations in attendance. Murray MacPherson, the co-chair of the International Snowmobile Congress 2009 and vice-president of the P.E.I. Snowmobile Association, said it will be an experience not to be missed.

“These are the real founders of the organized sport that are going to this meeting,” said MacPherson. “They have an awful lot of wisdom to pass along, and organized snowmobiling is so recognized across North America…It gives us a higher body to keep the rules coming down—it is almost like a government that gives you exposure and keeps things fairly sane.”

MacPherson said the weekend is packed full of interesting discussions, entertainment and banquets. “We start on Thursday morning and there is a social 7 o’clock breakfast,” said MacPherson. “And we have a guest speaker, usually a motivational speaker, and a few politicians that talk about snowmobiling. Then we break out into our Canadian Council Snowmobile meetings and the American Snowmobile Association meetings.”

MacPherson said registration fees are greatly reduced for people who pre-register. He urges anyone interested in the ISC to go online at www.peisa.ca for more information.
