During the past four decades, the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Racing Association (SSRA) has organized a number of snowmobile and ATV grass drags throughout the summer—and members are kicking it up a notch for the 2007 season.
"We are really looking forward to having one of the best years yet," said Rick Wilde, a member of the SSRA.
From July to October, the SSRA will have sanctioned drags held in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. These events bring dozens of spectators out to watch riders tear up the turf with high-powered snowmobiles and ATVs.The drags are divided into classes, such as pro stock, improved, heavy modified, open mod, and junior novice. A variety of different machines are seen at the races—from fully modified, nitro-equipped sleds to straight stock machines—and the crackle and pop of race pipes are familiar sounds at SSRA events.
So join the SSRA in celebrating its 40th anniversary and plan to attend the grass drags near you.
The following is a tentative racing schedule:
July 21—Fulda, Saskatchewan
July 28—Grassland, Alberta
August 18—Warman, Saskatchewan
September 2—Russell, Manitoba
September 22—Thompson, Manitoba
October 6-7—Eckville, Alberta
