Blazing along
Despite an unfortunate loss, the Springhill Trailblazers anticipate a good year
by SUSAN ROGERS

GROUP SHOT: We made a weekend trip to Russell, Manitoba.

Are you looking forward to another season of inhaling those exhilarating smells that hit your nose from under the hood of your sled? I sure am! What could make winter more welcome!

We are saddened to report that we lost one of our very active members, president Todd Stabner, to cancer. Todd was always there for us when we needed anything done. No chore was too big or too small; it was always, “I’ll look after that.” We have renamed our President’s Ride as the Todd Stabner Memorial Ride.

Aside from this, the club had a great season last year and we’d like to thank all the vendors who came to the table to help us with our Snopasses. We are looking forward to another great season ahead.

We actually started off with our annual corn roast back in September and had our first meeting Oct. 16, 2007. Our Christmas party was held Dec. 2, 2007, at the East St. Paul Arena. Our first club ride, weather and conditions permitting, will be Jan. 5, 2008.

We are hoping that Old Man Winter will bless us once again with lots of that fluffy white stuff and that our groomer will get out as soon as it can to start packing down those smooth trails that we all like to ride on. We sure do appreciate the hard work that our grooming committee puts in so that we can enjoy our sport. Thanks again team! Just a reminder to all that the purchase of Snopasses enables our groomer to operate. Our club has a weekend getaway to places unknown at least once a season and we have organized rides every weekend.

We also have a meeting once a month from October to April to keep the communication open with all members. Our club is looking for new members to come out, so if you are interested just call 896-4807 and we’ll get some club info out to you. The cost of an annual membership is $30.

Until next time, happy sledding!
