SnoRiders West advertising consultant Cora Tschetters is continuing her quest to raise funds, burn calories and build strength and stamina for the 2006 Way Out Women (WOW) Relay for breast cancer.

“So far I’ve raised more than $10,000 from various businesses, friends, family, the Cranbrook Snowmobile Club and even the Kelowna ATV Club,” said Tschetters.

She said one of the challenges of fundraising is raising awareness of the event, especially since Tschetters’ hometown of Cranbrook is not a stop on the WOW Relay. Articles in both local newspapers and support from her enthusiastic sister and dad, however, have helped shine the spotlight on Tschetters’efforts.

“The thing that is amazing is people who have stopped me on the street and recognized me, and said what a great thing this is that I’m doing,” she said. “It’s almost like being a celebrity.”

In addition to her fundraising efforts, Tschetters is putting her body through the paces in preparation for the relay.

“My sister Wanda hired two personal trainers for me as an early Christmas gift and I’ve been working out four to five days per week since mid-June,” she said.

All of her hard work and training will pay off in February 2006 when Tschetters will join two other B.C. riders who have been chosen to snowmobile 1,200 kilometres in nine days across British Columbia to complete the Polaris-sponsored cross-Canada journey.
