Our Trail Seekers Snowmobile Club, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and District, is very pleased to say we had the most eventful year to date.

We are very thankful for the tremendous support we have received from our MLAs and our sponsors. Without this type of support we would not be able to offer Parkland County an Alberta Snowmobile Association (ASA)-approved groomed snowmobile trail.

Our trail will provide numerous benefits to Parkland County. The trail system will provide snowmobilers of Parkland County, Spruce Grove and Stony Plain with a safe family-oriented place to ride and enjoy the great outdoors. We want to stress the importance of our safe trail system—as we know that inadequate riding and trail facilities increase the risk of snowmobile-related accidents.

We know the trail system will help the landowners in Parkland County by helping to decrease the number of trespassing incidents. There are also a lot of economic benefits to having this snowmobile trail in the county.

In other club news, we purchased a Bombardier 2002 Plus MP BR 275 groomer and a 1993 mogul master drag. We ran our 2006 swap meet and barbecue at Martin Motor Sports and we decorated a tree for the Spruce Grove Festival of Trees, which raised $250 for the Tri-Community Health & Wellness Foundation.

Our Toy Run at our trail raised more than $650 worth of toys for Spruce Grove Share Tree and Stony Plain Kinsmen. We ran our 2nd Annual Poker Rally and had almost 100 sleds show up. We hosted our first ever silent auction at Michael’s Bar and raised more than $8,000. We also worked with Blair Morgan’s racing team and donated $500 U.S. to Canadian and American spinal research.

We sold 104 ASA Trail Passes last year and we have seen tremendous growth in our club membership. We have won the ASA (Alberta Snowmobile Association) Northwest Regional Club of the Year for 2006, while our president, LeAnn Whaling, and her family won the ASA Snowmobile Excellence Award for Outstanding Snowmobile Family for 2007.

Our club has incurred costs of more than $172,000 to get our snowmobile trail ASA-approved, developed and signed, and for the purchase of a groomer. Now our trail is considered to be one the best-signed trails in Western Canada.

In upcoming events, we will be holding our dinner and silent auction at Michael's Grill & Lounge on March 8, 2008.
