Dale and Tracey Richter’s shared passion for sledding is what brought them together.
“I actually met my wife snowmobiling,” said Dale. “She was the girl that liked to have lots of fun.”
What’s more, Dale even proposed to Tracey while snowmobiling, getting down on his knee under a snow-ghosted tree on the peak of Two Top Mountain in the Targhee National Forest of Montana—though the romance of the setting doesn’t quite figure in when Dale tells the story.
“I proposed to her on top of this mountain—it’s about 10,000 feet up—because I figured that I was pretty safe: it would have been a long walk down for her if she had said no,” he said with a chuckle.
The Richters’ four children—Chelsea, Brady, Evan and Shaelyn—have all inherited their parents’ love of the outdoors. Dale, for his part, appreciates that sledding is something everyone in the family can enjoy.
“It’s a sport that we can all enjoy together,” he said. “There aren’t very many sports that the whole family can do.” |
