YAHK
Sledding to Yahk and back
A few Cranbrook sledders test out the run for Kyle MacDonald's visit to Yahk

If there was ever a time to plan a snowmobile trip from Cranbrook to Yahk, B.C., now would be the time—and that is exactly what a few snowmobilers from Cranbrook did as they prepared for the highly talked-about visit from Kyle MacDonald—the creator of oneredpaperclip.com.

According to SnoRiders West advertising consultant Cora Tschetters the route—which is mostly on the Gold Creek and Hawkins Creek roads, with side trips on the pipeline—packs plenty of powder and any avid snowmobiler will have some fun on this trail.

"We expect that it will take at least five to six hours for this trip as it is about a 100-kilometre ride. New riders will not be going at high speeds, and with lots of time we can show Kyle the sights of the Kootenay's backcountry," said Tschetters.

Tschetters was one of nine snowmobilers with the Cranbrook Snowmobile Club who tested out the route to Yahk in order to get a good sense of what to expect when MacDonald arrives in Cranbrook on February 9.

Here are a few pictures taken by Harvey Sims on the recent trip.
