This Bavarian-style community prides itself on offering some of the best winter recreation that can be found in the Rocky Mountains. At an elevation of 1,100 metres, this small city is the second highest in Canada—which means winter brings plenty of powdery snow. Soput on your tuque, strap on some boots and head to the hills of Kimberley, B.C., for a winter adventureyou won’t soon forget.
WHAT TO SEE & DO:
Kimberley Alpine Resort
Whether you are a cross-country ski fanatic or a devoted downhill skier or snowboarder, Kimberley Alpine Resort offers it all. With eight lifts and a top elevation of 6,500 feet, this resort is bound to impress skiers and snowboarders of all ages and calibres.
Snowmobiling
The backcountry around Kimberley provides some fun sledding opportunities, whether you are into interesting mountain riding or simply taking it easy on the trails. Keep in mind, you won’t find anything that’s too difficult here.
The platzl
Always a good time, the Kimberley platzl features a collection of Bavarian-style buildings, shops, restaurants, cafes and boutiques.
Centre 64
Located half a block north of Kimberley’splatzl, Centre 64 is a great place to drop by and take in a little culture. This charming local art gallery is usually bustling with activity and features a number of exhibitions and theatre performances throughout the year.
