Evan Shellborn went snowmobiling for the first time in the snowy hills above Lumberton, near Cranbrook, B.C. He helped break in a brand new Ski-Doo Tundra LT 800 four-stroke touring sled by doubling behind his father. Asked if he would do it again Evan said, "Absolutely—that was awesome!" The 4-stroke was a quiet, smooth ride. It had no problem keeping up and only used a quarter of the gas of its two-stroke counterpart.

The death of the 583
This photo shows what was left of a sled that caught fire and burned to the ground 10 kilometres from the parking area. The young lady who was riding the sled was following her friend down from Boulder Mountain when the machine caught fire. After a few minutes, her friend realized she was missing and when he returned to check on her, the sled was fully ablaze; however, no one was hurt.

While he was riding in the ditch near Rosseau, MN,, Grant Romaniuk of Oakbank, MB, slipped into the bull ruses. Romaniuk put the throttle to the bar and got himself out after a 1/4 of a mile of riding in the bulrushes. Photographer and riding buddy Darrell Rohoway said it was priceless.

Revving up the Renshaw
Last spring, Dean Maurier used a Rhino to pull their small sled trailer about 14 kilometres up the trail to the Renshaw.
The rest of the day was spent exploring the area. Maurier said they were the only people up there and it was amazing.

Breaking barriers
Alaska's backcountry allows for many, like Tyler Kipp, to challenge their riding abilities and hone their skills. "Riding up here is absolutely amazing," said Kipp. "This year was a huge stepping stone on learning to pancake whip, do re-entries and jump over 135 feet. Next year, hopefully, I'll be able to land a clean back flip and amplify my whips."
