Many of you who are looking to make performance improvements to your sled may want to hear what is available to you.

Garth Gordon has opened a shop in Arcola that provides services and products for the performance-minded snowmobiler. Garth offers performance products, engine building and chassis construction. If you don’t know who Garth Gordon is and the talent he has, you may want to visit him to make those performance improvements. You have heard of Blair Morgan Racing Team and Boss Racing Team—Garth was crew chief for these teams as well as the crew chief and sled builder of Olah Racing.

Garth worked closely with Jeremy Johnson and Chris Hortness, who rode to first- and second- place finishes at the World Championship Ice Ovals at Eagle River. Following Garth’s success at Eagle River, he teamed up with Blair Morgan Racing as crew chief and then joined up with Boss Racing, working with Blair Morgan, Carl Custer and Robbie Malinowski. Garth tells me he is semi-retired but has the love and passion for snowmobiles and has made the move to offer his expertise to the public.

At this time, Garth has not chosen a name for his business, but you can call him at 1-306-577-7748. If you are a go-fast sledder and want to improve the performance of your sled, you now have available in our backyard the best of the best. Said to be the most sought-after crew chief in snowmobile racing and with the record to prove it, Garth has what it takes. I asked Garth what he has to offer and he told me he has everything. So if you are looking to get more out of your sled, get in contact with Garth.

Vintage sleds

At this year’s show in Regina we hosted a very good collection of vintage sleds. The audience was impressed and spent a good amount of time looking over the sleds. We look forward to our future shows and working with the collectors of these sleds. If you are interested in displaying at our shows in the future, you can contact Randy Bokshowan at 1-306-664-3560 (Saskatoon Show, Fall of 2010) or George Shindel at 1-306-352-9370 (Regina Show, Fall of 2011).

Vintage sled collection is growing at a very fast pace; more and more folks are looking at the purchase and rebuilding of one of these sleds. Many folks I know have found a sled and are in the process of rebuilding or are looking at the purchase of a vintage sled. Vintage collectors come in different varieties; some keep their sled just to display, some ride it on occasion at vintage meets and some get into vintage racing.

We have several events around the province; in time, as we get the information, we will post this info on our website. You can find all kinds of information on vintage sleds on the web, so if you are thinking about getting into vintage sleds, you can start in several ways: visit the show, talk to Randy or George to get names of contacts and visit the web. What do you get a snowmobiler that has everything for Christmas? A vintage sled!

Don’t drink and ride.
