Sno-Traveler in the family room
We
havent come across too many antique and vintage
snowmobile collectors that are quite as avid about their
passion as Diane Lawson of Minnesota. Recently Diane
wrote us here at SnoRiders West asking about a 1964
Polaris Autoboggan we featured in a column we call Antique
Sled corner.
We were happy to dig up and send the information Diane
needed about the Autoboggans owner Ken Archer
of Pemberton, BC. Heres an excerpt of what Diane
wrote us. . .
"Thanks so much for the info and the numbers. I
bought an Autoboggan on e-bay from Pinewood Sports in
Fort Francis, Ontario for $890. It is in very restorable
shape, all emblems were painted in black but stripped
now to the original chrome. It runs fine and I plan
on riding it this year as is but plan on restoring it
next year. It is the same as Polaris Comet of that year
but has Autoboggan emblems on it instead of Comet."
Diane continues, "I have restored a 63 Sno-Traveler
(L55) and have enclosed a picture of it. I have it enclosed
in plexiglass and it is in the family room when not
out for shows. I paid $1,000 for that (rusty but all
parts were there). I have about another $1,000 in it
in restoration and many mega hours. I am very proud
of it."
And so you should be Diane, your restoration project
of the Sno-Traveler look fanastic. The only thing I
need from you now Diane is your secret as to how I can
convince my wife to let me display my antique sled in
the family room?!
